Addition with Regrouping: Level 2
Principle of Instruction: The principle of instruction for this lesson is that the students will learn addition with regrouping with two digit numbers using different technologies.
Problem-Centered: The students will be introduced to different programs and strategies that they can use at home so they can continue to enhance their knowledge and connect what they learned to real life examples.
Activation: The Voki video and regrouping song will activate the student's prior knowledge and get them thinking back to the level one concept of regrouping and what they learned.
Demonstration: To begin the lesson, the students will be introduced to a regrouping song and then will also watch a 3 minute video demonstrating how to add two digit numbers using regrouping.
Let's dive right in!
Application: The students will complete a worksheet made by the teacher on the computer. They will use this to practice their two digit addition with regrouping and show the teacher what they learned.
Integration: The students will be shown the different uses where this regrouping knowledge will be useful outside of the classroom. They will be given examples of when and where what they learned will come in handy, such as handling and counting money, etc. Then, the students will be responsible for going home and responding to the question, "What are some examples of when you will use addition with regrouping in the real world?" through Padlet.
